Vic Hellberg had a great-uncle who served in the first world war. Vic says:

I remember, clearly, him telling me that he was asked to go to a meeting in Paris, France by some GIs that were starting an organization. Instead, he walked around Paris taking pictures. He was a war photographer and loved taking pictures. What he missed was the founding of the American Legion. He could have been a charter member. He always regretted not being there. This is your chance to be a charter member of USS Seattle's reunions. It is only right that Plank Owners and First Cruisers are the charter members and you have your one chance to be in the first group. Air fares have never been lower. This is a GREAT time to do this.
